ABOUT ME

Vickie Kellar M.S., CCC-SLP, CLC
Vickie Kellar founded Tamalpais Speech, Feeding and Lactation Services (formally known as Little Seedling Speech and Feeding), in 2014, to help improve the lives of children and their families by providing high quality therapy services for speech, language and feeding development. Vickie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in Psychology. During her undergraduate work she interned and upon graduation worked for a school in San Francisco’s Inner Sunset district for children with emotional and behavioral needs. She was set to obtain her graduate degree in Psychology until she realized that many of her students could not effectively communicate their wants and needs. She then applied to graduate school and received her Masters of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology from California State University East Bay, graduating in 2009.

Vickie interned at Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Palo Alto during her graduate work and upon graduation, went on to work in the acute care hospital setting with adults. After dedicating years to working with adults, Vickie went back to working with her first passion, children. Vickie has worked in a variety of settings during her time as a Speech Language Pathologist including: acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, public schools, non-public schools, outpatient clinics, home health and private practice. Every setting that Vickie has worked in has provided a great opportunity and experience.

Through these various experiences, Vickie has found that the most beneficial therapy for her pediatric clients have taken place through fun, naturalistic and play-based techniques with a high level of family involvement. She believes that each child deserves a highly individualized treatment program to for their unique set of needs along with taking into account the goals of the family. Vickie regularly attends a variety of continuing education courses and has extensive training in Early Intervention services, motor speech disorders, speech sound disorders and feeding development.

Vickie expanded her practice to include lactation support by obtaining her certification as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), after having nursing challenges with both of her children. She also attended specialized training for assessment and treatment of tethered oral tissues (TOT’s-lip/tongue tie).

In her spare time, Vickie enjoys taking advantage of the numerous opportunities the Bay Area has to offer for outdoor activities, with her two young children and husband. When indoors, Vickie is an avid reader of incredibly long novel series, sweating on her Peloton, going to concerts and baking.
